We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join the Gender in Peacebuilding Team, within the Peacebuilding Advisory Unit. You will be responsible for providing the Gender Team and Alert more broadly, with day to day administrative and research support to develop work on understanding gender in peacebuilding.
You will support the delivery of International Alert’s gender and peacebuilding strategy, through policy, research and advocacy as well as technical support, proposal development, developing research methodologies, training, advice and mentoring to other Alert staff in country programme teams, partners and like-minded organisations. Project components range from those examining gender norms as drivers of conflict to others on women’s participation in peacebuilding and on sexual- and gender-based violence, masculinities and peacebuilding. These include country-focused as well as policy-focused programmes.
With a postgraduate degree in a subject with relevance to the role, such as peace and conflict studies, you will demonstrate practical and theoretical understanding of gender, conflict and peacebuilding issues. You will have substantial experience in conducting research on gender and conflict and on advising on and/or implementing programmes on gender mainstreaming and gender transformation in conflict settings. You will also be experienced in developing and implementing advocacy strategies with clear change targets.
