As such, Consilient delivers all its research products to the development sector, government, U.N. and donor clients with full-time locally based research teams.

Job Description: The Business Development Officer will support the team in the development of promotional and record-keeping materials, the preparation of research proposals, the preparation of compliance and due diligence documentation, and helping to contribute to Consilient’s expansion into new markets and new lines of business. The Business Development Officer will work directly with the business development manager and will support the full suite of business development functions.

Given the remote nature of the position, our ideal candidate is both highly organized and personally accountable such that they thrive in a position where there is minimal, direct oversite. Likewise, our ideal candidate is a strong technical writer who can present clear, concise, and organized proposals in English. Prior experience working in business development is not necessary, in fact candidates with a research background are strongly encouraged to apply, and we provide ongoing training and support for candidates to build their skills over time. We envision this position being most attractive to new graduates/early career candidates who are looking for an opportunity to gain experience working on a wide range of business development functions and taking on increasing responsibilities over time.

This is a full-time position based remotely. The BD officer will report directly to the BD Manager.

Description of Main Duties:

  • Supporting the preparation of commercial research proposals for humanitarian and development agencies.
  • Supporting the development of promotional materials to aid in Consilient’s expansion into new markets and for promoting new technological offerings.
  • Leading in the maintenance of our business development databases and record-keeping systems.
  • Preparing due diligence, compliance, and proposal supporting documents.
  • Coordination with Consilient’s research teams to ensure that our technical proposals reflect research best-practices and maintain Consilient’s internal standards for rigor.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree (or other evidence of strong writing skills and ability to learn about social science research methods).
  • Personal accountability to produce without direct day-to-day oversite.
  • Demonstrated ability (or demonstrated capacity and willingness to learn) to manage proposals including analysis of RFP, translation into a work structure breakdown, schedule development and coordination of price proposal management;
  • Strong writing and editing skills to draft and improve submissions content and presentation;
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to timeliness.
